Flobots to Play Free Concert During Dew Tour

The Winter Dew Tour announced that Flobots, the band whose top-ten billboard hit “Handlebars” thrust them into the limelight, will headline at the Verizon Wireless music stage on Friday, Jan. 9, at the second stop of the Winter Dew Tour at Mount Snow, Vermont. Reggae-infused band Dirty Heads will open. The free concert kicks off at 4 p.m. at the base of the Carinthia mountain face.

As one of the most talked about newcomers of 2008, Flobots most recent release, Fight With Tools, sold more than a quarter million copies. The band recently joined the celebrated record label Universal Republic.

The six-man band began as a hip-hop trio in 1995 and evolved into the musical powerhouse they are today with the addition of live instrumentalists. Their live shows are defined by infectious beats enhanced by a high-octane rhythm section that includes bass, drums, funk guitar chords and a viola.

"We're really excited about playing this event. We always have a great time in Vermont and we're amped about getting to see the competition in person," said Andy Guerrero, Flobots' guitarist.

Dirty Heads hail from Huntington Beach, California and their music is an influence of reggae and hip hop styles infused with the raw energy of punk. Dirty Heads latest album, Any Port in a Storm, was released in September on EMG Fontana/Universal.

All music from the Verizon Wireless music stage is free to the general public including the Friday night concert with Flobots and Dirty Heads.

Similar to the Dew Tour’s summer competition structure, the Winter Dew Tour is based on a cumulative points system as the top snow athletes battle it out for a piece of the $1.5 million prize purse and the chance to take home the Dew Cup at the conclusion of the season in February.
