Deerfield Valley To Host Blueberry Parade

Participants wanted for Blueberry Festival Parade:
Dover August 8th, 2009

Area businesses, families and community groups are invited to participate in the Deerfield Valley Blueberry festival parade, a brand new summer tradition in the town of Dover, sponsored in part by the Nelson E. Pickwell Post 15 American Legion, The Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce, Boyd Family Farm, RSN and by a grant from the Town of Dover economic development fund. The parade occurs on Saturday August 8th at 11:00AM, the closing weekend of the ten day festival, and will wend north through Dover on Route 100 from the entrance of Dorr Fitch Road, past a reviewing stand at the Paw House Inn and end at Country Club Road.



Any business, family or group can participate in the parade including antique cars, horse groups, and kid’s bike groups. Prizes will be awarded to floats that best match with this year’s two parade themes: All Things Blue and Agricultural First Place $225 Second Place $100 or Our Heritage Our Communities First Place $100 Second Place $50. Featured participants to date include the American Legion Band of Brattleboro and Keene, The Bennington Chamber of Commerce, The Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce and Boyd Farm. Registration for business floats is $50 and for $10 for non-profits. Non float entries are free, and all entries must register with the chamber. The 2nd Annual Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival, named a Vermont Top 10 summer event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, begins on July 31 and runs through August 9th. In addition to the newly added parade, featured events in 2009 include: Blue Pin Bowling at North Star Bowl & Video, Downtown Wilmington Village Stroll, Blueberry Story Contest at Holden Spa & Sauna, Field of Blue at Boyd Farm, Blueberry Bog at the Mount Snow mountain Bike Festival, Art at the Park at Mountain Park Plaza, a Blues Jam at Adam’s Farm and the Deerfield Valley Rotary Blueberry Pancake Breakfast.
