Vermont Soup Title up for grabs at the 3rd Annual Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival
WILMINGTON -The September 24-26 weekend collaboration between the Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Life Magazine adds to its list of events a “Welcome to Vermont” celebration in historic downtown Wilmington featuring tastings of select Vermont Wines, the new festival Soup Contest, Contra Dance and Entertainment; incorporating the downtown businesses as well as historic Memorial Hall, Buzzy Towne Park and the award winning new Bank Park overlooking the Deerfield River.The 3rd Annual Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival features a tented two day exhibition area of Vermont Wines, cheeses, specialty food and artisan crafts, chef demonstrations and entertainers as well as a variety of wine and cheese pairings, dinners and “Indigenous Vermonter Breakfasts” throughout the valley.
Friday September 24th downtown Wilmington businesses will host the soup contest and wine tastings. The festival soup contest is open to all to enter. Visitors will vote on their favorite soup. A press release naming the entry as the winner of the Vermont Life Wine & Harvest Festival Soup contest will be forwarded to statewide press and featured on the festival website.
The Wine and Soup Tasting will take place between 5:30 and 7:30pm. The Contra Dance with Andy Davis and friends will kick off at 7:30pm in Historic Memorial Hall in the center of Wilmington.
Soup Contest rules:
All soup must be delivered to selected venue by 4:30pm 9/24
Soup venues will be confirmed by Sept 1.
3-gallons per soup. Organizers will supply tasting cups and ladles
All recipes must be original.
Ingredients and or recipes must be posted with entry in consideration of food allergies.
The soup will be sampled in small cups without spoons.
There is no fee to participate; however, a $25 refundable deposit is due upon sign up. All deposits will be fully refunded to entrants upon delivery of soup at selected venue.

Windham County to Host Annual VAST Meeting
SAVE THE DATE:
Windham County Snowmobile Clubs will host the annual meeting of the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST) on August 28th 2010 at Mount Snow’s Grand Summit Hotel. After a fourteen year “Round Robin” throughout the state, VAST will turn to the Deerfield Valley for its one day event.
Attendance is open to all snowmobile club members who purchased a VAST Trail Pass for the 2009/2010 snowmobile season. A buffet luncheon will be served $7.50 per person, consult with your club representatives for details. Registration begins at 9 AM. Pre-meeting discussion begins at 11AM, lunch from Noon to 1:30PM. The business meeting is scheduled from 1:30PM to 5PM.
At the meeting one could meet and share experiences with other’s that enjoy snowmobiling in Vermont. Business issues important to the sport will be reported on, discussed and voted. As well, the development status of the 96 mile Lamoille Valley Rail Trail will be reviewed and a new VAST vision will be highlighted.

Blueberry Parade and Senator Sanders Town Hall Information
Motorized entrants in the Deerfield Valley’s Big Blue Parade in Dover on July 31st should meet at 10:30 at Central Appliance on Route 100 in West Dover. Walking participants should meet at the Toll Gate Plaza across the road.
Viewers of the parade are reminded that the parade route extends from the West Dover Village to Country Club Road and traffic on Route 100 along this route will be detoured from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Expect delays, use alternate routes.
BBQ lunch items will be for sale on the lawn of the Andirons. At 12:30 pm, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders hosts a town Hall meeting on the Andirons lawn

RE: Blueberry Festival Parade Traffic Delays
WEST DOVER- Traffic delays as a result of the Blueberry Festival Parade will be expected on Route 100 from West Dover Village north to Country Club Road on Saturday July 31, 2010 from approximately 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Traffic is expected to be completely stopped from 11:00 AM up to 11:30 AM. When the parade clears the Crosstown and Valley View Road intersection, north & south bound Rt.100 traffic will be detoured onto Crosstown and Country Club Roads for the remainder of the parade. Use alternate routes if possible.

Wilmington Park Tribute Opportunity
“Create a Tribute”
This Memorial Day Weekend, come meet the Wilmington Beautification Committee at their table in Wilmington’s Bank Park. Hear about the Paver Inscription Fund-Raising Program. Honor a person, business or organization by memorializing their names, date and event description. Information and order forms will be available. Pavers (bricks) are to be used to finish the ramp in the park. The table will be available during the Duck Race on Sunday and the Parade on Monday.
Forms are also available at the Wilmington Town office and various business establishments throughout the valley, and are available for download
from the Wilmington Town website www.wilmingtonvermont.us. The number of inscription pavers available at the cost of $100 is limited, so it is first come, first served.
