For Immediate Release:

The economic crisis has all of us riveted to the news watching markets tumble, companies downsize, and states wrestle with their budgets. While events play out on the grand stage of the national and global stage, there are impacts in our more local arena as well. Vermont’s state budget is in trouble, and our own local companies are stressed. And with all that each of us faces difficult situations and decisions.

Marlboro College, Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC), and WTSA are working together to produce a series of events to help people understand and cope with these unique conditions.

The first event will be Congressman Peter Welch talking about the federal bills and views on Saturday, February 28, 11 to 12am, at the Latchis theater. Congressman Welch has been actively involved in creating the two major stimulus bills. He will talk about the bills, economic conditions as seen from Washington, and the impact of the stimulus bill on Vermont. After his presentation he will take questions from the audience. Congressman Welch is on the House Energy & Commerce and Oversight Committees, both important elements in the legislative response to the economic crisis. Welch has long supported green energy innovation, manufacture and production as important to Vermont’s economic future.

The presentation will be rebroadcast Sunday night at 7pm on 96.7 WTSA FM
